What We’ve Heard: Energy

Since 2016, the Yukon Liberal government has transformed the territory’s clean energy landscape.

  • Over 30 renewable energy projects funded through the Innovative Renewable Energy Initiative (IREI) — supporting First Nations, community, and small-scale projects across the Yukon.
    Recent highlights include:

    • Kluane N’tsi Wind Energy Project

    • Haeckel Hill Wind

    • Dome Road Solar

    • Sree Vyaa Solar (Old Crow)

    • Beaver Creek Solar

    • Sunergy Haines Junction Solar

    • Takhini Solar Project

    • Mount Sima Solar

  • Supported Yukon Energy’s grid-scale battery system and the Arctic Energy Fund — over $33 million invested in energy projects across the territory.

  • Through the micro-generation program, eight First Nations governments and five development corporations have installed 135 renewable systems on homes, businesses, and institutions.

Securing Yukon’s Energy Future: The Yukon–B.C. Grid Connection

The Yukon Liberal Party is leading the vision to connect Yukon’s power grid with British Columbia — unlocking enormous economic and environmental benefits.

  • Ends reliance on diesel generation

  • Enables critical mineral development — up to $2B in annual electricity revenue

  • Generates 18,000 long-term jobs and $184B in Canadian GDP

  • Prevents 9 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year

  • Supports 2,000 MW of new renewable generation in northern Canada

  • Electrifies six northern communities and strengthens road and telecom networks

  • Creates major opportunities for Yukon First Nation partnerships

This is an investment in Yukon’s economic independence — and a cleaner, more secure future.

Our Commitments
