Away for the Election? This’ll help

With a Canada Post strike underway, Elections Yukon has updated how special ballots will work to make sure every voter can still cast a ballot in the territorial election on November 3, 2025.

Special ballot applications opened early to give people more time to qualify. If you want your ballot mailed, the deadline to apply is 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21. After that, you’ll need to vote in person.

For voters outside the Yukon, special ballot kits will be sent by courier instead of mail, with prepaid return envelopes. Elections Yukon will cover all courier costs. Inside the territory, you can apply for and return your special ballot at any Returning Office or satellite office, not just the one in your riding. Once ballots are returned, they’ll be sent to Whitehorse for counting.

In-person special ballot voting runs from now until Friday, October 31. Advance Polls take place on Sunday and Monday, October 26 and 27, and Polling Day is Monday, November 3, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Because regular mail service is uncertain, Elections Yukon will share updates and voter information online and through local Returning Offices. The message is simple: apply early, stay informed, and use the available options to make sure your vote counts.
